12.9 OPTIMISM v UNSHAKEABLE BELIEF

At this point, it is vital we distinguish between ‘Optimism’ and an ‘Unshakeable Belief’. Optimism is about looking on the bright side of the situation and this has little to do with an Unshakeable Belief. To be truly successful, you need to be realistic and understand the size of the task ahead, what your Weaknesses are and what you need to do to improve. Loretta wasn’t optimistic in a wishful thinking sort of way. She knew how hard she had to work and she knew her Weaknesses. That’s being realistic as opposed to optimistic. Despite this realism, despite the size of the task ahead, she still believed somehow, even in the tough times when everything was going wrong, that she’d find a way through.
